Hi There,

I am planning on fitting Megajolt to a 1275 MG Midget

Firstly I am not sure if the Midget differs from the Mini block in this respect but I have a nagging doubt about removing the dizzy drive.

I seem to remember hearing something in the past about it affecting oil supply / routing (or something else?) if the dizzy drive is removed and a plain blank fitted. I can't see how but I'd rather ask first.

Does anyone know if this correct or do I just blank it off the same as a Mini block?

Cheers

No It will be 100% there is slight differences in the MG block but the oil pump is still driven from the cam so mo wories for you there.

I find the easiest way is to super glue the bolt to the end of one of my fingers.

just don't forget to take the dissy drive shaft out the block.
I did and it's cost me a lot of money

use the hole as an extra breather, midgets blow oil out the rear seal with a turbo.

'Where does the engine go?'

Megajolt works well on my engine, I have a blanking plug fitted but may well change to a breather.

Hi,

Just wondering what is meant by removing the dizzy drive.

I am going to be fitting megajolt soon as soon as I get the sensor bracket from tom fenton but thought i just had to pull out the dizzy and put a blanking plug on.

What else does this involve?

Thanks

Jon

If you look down the hole once the dizzy is out you will see a drive plate with a slot and in the middle is a thread.

Get a long 5/16" UNF bolt and carefully screw it in a few turns.

Pull the shaft out with the bolt, it will rotate slightly as you pull as the drive teeth are helical.

The dizzy drive is engaged into the camshaft. Once you have removed the dizzy look into the hole and you will see the dizzy drive, you can run a bolt into the end of the drive and twist it out clockwise. if you leave it in it could have disasterous consequences!

EDIT - just thought it's worth adding that if you have an early "A" block, there is a retaining boss - the bit that has a single recessed bolt holding it to the block and the dizzy clamp bolts to it with 2 more bolts - that has to come out first.

Should be obvious as all the blanking plugs for "A" blocks that I've seen, replace this item so it has to come out anyway.

On the "A+" the shaft just pulls straight out.

if its on a mini engine the bottom bolt from the radiator is a "long 5/16 UNF bolt" *wink* it comes in handy in a time of need*happy*
