Browsing Tran-X website today out of curiosity. What are ramp angles? I will admit my knowledge on LSD's is pretty poor.
I will end up buying book on the matter, in the meantime....

I might be shot down for this, but this is my understanding of them.

Changes the characteristics of the diff in acceleration and deceleration

For the acceleration the better the grip the higher the angle. On the road or a track say you use 85 degree on gravel/rally setup you would use 50ish degree, its how much it slips and transfers grip.

For the deceleration side the lower the angle the more it will let go of the engine if that makes sense, kind of difficult to explain in my limited knowledge.

So on the road you could use sort of 50-60 but on the track you would use 30-40 so it would let go a bit more to reduce under steer on the initial turn in.

One reason why I ask, TranX seem to be popular with competition minis etc. Expensive.

to understand what the ramp angles are about it helps if you have an lsd sitting right infront of you :)

put simply theres a ramp(supprise) and a meaty pin sits in teh ramp. the pin is joined to whatever sets teh preload on the clutch disks. the idea being under hard acceleration (and decelration in a "2 way") teh pin rides up the ramp, increasing the preload on teh clutch pack, different angles equate to how hard the clutch pack is tightened up with respect to the load placed on the diff.

EDIT perhaps its the ramp that mooves and the pin stayes stationary, its getting late! .. but you get the idea :)
