Magnificent!

We have a few fibreglass versions made over here. I was talking to the owner of a beautiful black open topper at car show who had a 427 - and plans for an under bonnet supercharger!

He then offered me or my son a ride in the cruise. I let the boy go, but I was never so jealous.

There's quite a few of those cars in the UK Cobra Club - stunning.

Those alloy bodies are the dogs.

Just had a look in a bit more detail at the Kirkham website.

The worst thing about the original Cobras was that the chassis was a simple ladder frame from the AC Ace. This used to flex like hell with all the power of the big V8s.

They've only gone and built that fantastic alloy body and put it on a ladder chassis.

Even my GD kit had a decent triangulated box chassis.

Fair point. However no two Cobras left the factory the same. If you study them in detail, you will see that the body shapes all differ, most notably in the shape of the wheel arch. Some of the Kirkham ones have a flat edge whereas the SCs had a rounded edge.

The shape of mine above differed at the time from the Pilgrim, Dax or LR Roadsters. They were all different shapes!

I'm just dissapointed that they did not take the opportunity to address a fundemental problem with the original chassis design.

Having said that, I think they are a cracking car and it makes me yearn for mine again.

They could, and have tried building a new chassis - I've seen it, but 90% of the cobra club said they'd never buy one, as it wasnt proper!

I see your point with the chassis, but in the real world how many of theses do you think get driven in anger? I reckon me dad has a ladder type frame.

i know of an orignal AC cobra that i see get MOT'd every year........its hot damn gorgeous!!

i was speaking to the guy, who is retired, and he was toying with selling it....he couldnt really justify having a car in his garage that could clear his mortgage if he sold it. all for just 3 or 4 drives a year.
