right, just getting through the engine build and i need to time the cam in now. I've got an avonbar phase 2 but i got it 2nd hand so i haven't got any figures, i've managed to get a little info off their website but it still doesn't mean anything to me.

Also can it be timed in properly with standard timing gear or do i need to upgrade?

I've had a search through the site but can't find what i'm after.

Anyone help please? it's my first engine build so i'm still learning.

Cheers, Nick.

get a copy of 'tuning the a series engine' phone avonbar and ask what it should be timed to, it can be done with inexpensive keys

Cheers, Nick.

Minispares do a decent "budget" kit, only about £20+vat, or for an extra £5 a lightened set-up of the same. Think they come with the counter sunk screws needed for the backplate?? Dont forget to tap out the bit on the timing cover or it fouls the wider(duplex) chain.

yeah i was looking at them last night on their website, i think i'm gonna go for one of their vernier adjustable types about £60ish. Or is this type gonna confuse me even more than a standard setup?

Cheers, Nick.

okay then looks like a trip to minispares this afternoon, is it best to just get a selection of the offset keys? think they do from 1 to 9 degrees.

Cheers for the help dudes!
