Or a full set if you don't want to split them up.

Or just a piston if it hasn't been damaged getting it off the rod.

Thanks

Just number 3 is needed really. The piston got friendly with the head after the big end bolts on the rod decided they weren't going to play anymore. So rod and Piston are US. Thankfully the block survived and the crank is in intensive care but may still pull through.

a LIL fishing village on the coast - Newcastle Upon Tyne

unusual for an A+ end cap to let go, i have had it done with some old cooper S rods. Mate on rebuild use the ARP ones, for the sake of £60 its worth it !!

have you modded the center main and put a strap on *hehe!*

The cap had ARP stud and bolts. The only thing I can think of is either a bad one or the engine builder didn't seat it properly or do it up correctly (I'll sack me latter). It had lock thread on it to.

Yep. the engine had a strap too!

The other info you need to make your own mind up is it only did about 7 laps of snetterton before it happened. I know which one my money is on!

as above, (must get mine checked)

Also the rod bolt hoe can wander a fair bit on A+ rods, do you have a pic of the one that let go, or is it now scrapnell.

Do you mean by "lock Thread" that you put some kind of locking compound on the thread's if so I would put my money on that being what caused your problam :(.

I find the easiest way is to super glue the bolt to the end of one of my fingers.

PaulH - why would the locking compound be the problem?

Mini13 - I still have the mullered rod and piston but i doesn't tell me much. I'll see if I can get some pics of it.

hopefully a picture of the piston damaged

got it to work. see Damage.

Other info
I can't find one of the nuts and the other had a stripped thread that we on the big end. Strange wear pattern on ght big end (see pic) any ideas?

Oh I've now sourced another Piston, The Crank is out of intensive care and will be up and running in a couple of weeks. A new rod will be joining the crew along with some more ARP bolts.
