Top coat shouldnt usually go onto etch, you should have a primer inbetween.

Paul

I seriously doubt it!

Twin pack is great, but only if you have an airfed mask and an extraction system - its nasty stuff to breathe, much much worse than cellulose.

Cellulose is easy to polish runs out. Haven't had much experience with 2pk.

hmm, 2 pack you can get a much better finish with in my experience, you can flat it to a mirror finish, i always use 2 pack.....

eBay, there are at least three suppliers selling both 2K and celly that they really shouldn't be.....

Jawell is the most used, Nu-agane probably second and centralcarproducts third, at least in terms of my useage of them - but there are others too on the bay.....

Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ???

Hi if you are going to use acrylic (cell) then make sure you prime the surface and sand with 800 wet n dry and clean all very well. i have done the inside with a can but if you want to use 2pk you will need a hv lp (high volume low presure) gun gravity fed is best and small, to make it easier for the tight places.
You wil need a very good spray mask think about your lungs!!!!

If your etch coat is dry and by that I mean totally gone off not just touch dry you can paint straight on top of it.

The problem with cellulose is your going to use a lot more paint than 2K, and its easier to over do it and get runs. Also when dry cellulose has vertually no flexibility so chips easily. 2K is much more forgiving of knocks and bumps.

Your best technique is to dust on a coat 60% paint 40% thinners. Try not to wet the surfaces too much and do not try for full coverage, it will look great for a few minutes then the runs will come. Do not be tempted to go back over an area if you think it looks a little light.

Leave at least 30 minutes between coats.

Build up the layers by dusting until you have full coverage. This will give you a good surface to lay your final coats on as they will key in really well.

Once you have managed to get full coverage mix your next batch of paint to 50-50 paint and thinners. Again one pass over the interior then give it 30 minutes to an hour.

I would make your last coat 40% paint 60% thinner. Again give it 30 minutes to an hour between coats.

This last part gets tricky but if you set your gun fan right you will get a top finish. 100% thinners over what you have done with very low pressure and you will get a very deep shine.

Now if you were to use 2K this could all be done with just 2 coats of paint but the finish would not be half as good.

Now bare this in mind Cellulose takes upto 4 weeks to totally go off trying to polish it even after a week will end in tears. The last car I sprayed in cellulose was rolled into a garage and not touched for a month! when we cut it back the finish was like glass.

A good finish takes a lot of time and a lot of patience.

Sorry if this is teaching you to suck eggs but I would rather say than not.

Two good coats should be good enough.

If the underlying paint is not cured properly the vapour will get trapped and you will have millions of micro blisters in your top coat.

One last point unless you have an oven I would advise you wait till the temperature increases to about 15 degrees before you consider spraying.

The dew point (when condensation forms) is about -1 degrees and the average temp is about 5-8 degrees so you do not have a large temp range to play with when its warmer you can spray all day and let the thing cook off over night without fear of condensation forming on your panels
