i have made good progress, but not alot of pictures,
crank and rods are back from fastcarl,

crank- wedged, backdrilled, x drilled, grind 10/10, balanced and hardened
rods - little ends reamed for floating pins, big + little ends faced off to be polished by me with some buttons for the gudgeon pin,
the buttons was shaped for my block, for a perfect fit and balanced up with pins and pistons
all waterways are now drilled, tappedand plugged up in the block, the head the same, after i have measured up for the thrusts the block and head will be going for drilling in side of the head for the dry deck port, skim, cam bearings and an acid dip they do
once i have my thrusts in the correct size i will convert them to be oil fed too

i have gathered a good few verto's and have 3 left to strip down, one of witch i believe to be a turbo setup, assembled into an rts then that will be fitted up to my new lightweight minispares flywheel and sent off for balancing along with the crank, damper and what not

things im lacking to build me engine are,
arp rod bolts,
headgasket
mains, bigend and thrusts
cooling system
might get new flywheel + damper bolts too
( need clevis pins for clutch brakes)

(mainly for my own reference)
dont think i have missed anything,

for the shell, not alot of stuff to do fuel lines brake lines, wires, i started from scratch on my loom as i have changed / moved soo much

the head was pluged with m8 grub screws and diy m16 grub screws
the block m8 grubs and diy m14 grubscrews all secured with 'property of mod' locktite :)

rods are done, i think,*tongue* 530.05g each sound right? they are all balanced up now but will more than likely spend alittle more time with the polish

fitted the fuel lines today, 10mm feed and return,
as i dont want any joins in the cockpit they was made up from a single piece, bending the tube up by hand was er.. interesting it involved alot of poking from behind*happy* but they are in and im happy with them, cannot recommend the rubber lined 'P' clips enough glad i bought the same for the brake lines

rods, 1,2+3, three different stages of polish
the single rod is roughly how they all are now

To me it seems as you've polished off the shot peened layer. Is that correct?

these are just polished up standard rods v with a little forceracing machining first
how much would shot peening cost?, have not even looked into it yet/dont know if i should bother

dremil with sanding drums to take the main cast ridges off, then up in stages with sandpaper finally a mop on a bench grinder
worked out very time consuming, *oh well*

m10 x 1.5

well a small up date, after mitp and a few nights a way at the coast im home,
i have been fortunate to have had 2 weeks off work but unlucky with the weather i have managed to sort out abit more wiring. tidied up the 2 rear quarters, and started to skim the rear section under the boot before getting rained off, so i stripped and painted 2 of the wellers i have and then fitted the tires

another small update, 2 more wheels painted,
when i tubbed the arches i left 3 inches of steel sticking out for ease of sealing of arches or something but ive cut them off, trimmed the rear 2 arches to size test fitted and made brackets for them, thats about as far as i got today

im dying to get the front arches cut to size and on, but i need weight in the engine bay first :(

Hi minimad01, yep no valance but a full length diffuser

jams, if you can weld, tubbing the arch was about the easyest job i have done, providing you dont run into rust and seriously take your time welding the new arch to the rear quarter, i did a blob every 2 inch and worked around then back to the start and went around again

most of the rear end modifications are purely for the diffuser, in hind site i should have done the whole floor from arch to arch to make it neater but i didnt soo tough lol

im actually considering bringing the exhaust up through the boot floor and into the boot ( im not gonna use it as a shopping car) and out the bootlid

i can weld ok. im just worried about cutting it all out. im just being silly. did you pre- shape the metal or did you just like bedn it slightly slide it into the arch then it takes it own shape?

haha ok. just gathering as many tips and tricks and looking at as many pictures for when i do it then i can just do it easy. it all looks pretty simple other than making sure you dont warp anything. did you cut any of your back seat away on the side? have you got any pictures of the inside of the rear arches?
