Same for me Brett. Looks like the sort of dash I would want for coop.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

had ago at fitting the dash today, the initial lo it in i did last week wasnt too bad but as i started trimming it to get a better fit, it just highlighted all the imperfections in the dash (such as the top rail being 2 inches too low) and the flat spot for the gauges being directly behind the steering wheel where i cant see it*happy* so anyway here is what im on with

this is what i had to cut out to get the dash to fit

as you can see it bend compleetle the wrong way :(

i decided it sat too low in the car so i also cut here

too move it up a little

Ha ha, you may just have started again!

I had to plonk my instrument up on top of the dash, the steering wheel, cut nicely across the 5-8k band of the rev guage when mounted in the dash

The megajolt in now mounted on the dash to occupy some space.

good skills with the dash

whats the sensor for? speedo pick up or summit? how do those ones work, do you still need a magnet of some sort or can they count the teeth etc?

a couple of days and the dash shall be pictured *hehe!*

the sensor is for traction control and launch control, this one is hall effect and can count the gear teeth in theory,
there is a thread in the efi section i believe Rod has tested his circuits also, i havent yet as i have no mega-squirt

will it work with helical gears too? are are you going sc?

looks a trick bit of kit, so hows this traction control work, it can tell how fast your going from a rear wheel, and limits the engine rpm, and thus the CW until they sync again?

im going to go to sleep thinking about this now, how sad.

How have you anchored that bracket to the house? Is it worth putting some weld onto the fasteners?

Wow mark that is nice, its surprising how much "fettling" is required for a new item.

i had a good look around your mini at santapod after the rolling road day i remember liking the nice clean lines of your dash and your whole mini to be fair

for got to mention, the gearbox is now built torqued and loctited i had to trim the baffle plate, then re bend it as it hit the gears, then re trim it it now looks quite untidy, next time i will fit the gears first*oh well* hope to god it doesnt get clipped by the rods now :(

Looking good Brett, are you going to run under crown oil cooling? i had a baffle fitted then decided no to run it as i thought all the splashing oil will benefit cooling more than reducing lag.

dash will be worth the hassle i hate not being able to see my dials!

i was fully set out for undercrown cooling but im going to pass this time round, its not a big job imo at a later stage during a strip down or so,

a small update,

well alot of things are coming togeather on this now, but likewise alot are not, this weekend job is to assemble the front panels and fit them on all the mounts are made, brackets, and bolting plates, my bonnet appears to have been robbed though*frown*

i have about 50m of wire coming for the loom, as i have started again after a good re design but i have just counted there is 10 weeks to british mini showdown i would like to attend in this mini even if its non turbo, ( witch it will be for running in atleast )
*surprised* and 15 weeks to mitp, witch is the deadline
list of whats left to do ( so i remeber lol)

build the looms, rear, lights and engine looms
fit fuel pump, run fuel lines,
run front to rear brake lines and front lines
paint dash, fit gauges, and dash loom
new ally fin wheel drums
paint wheels,
buy/fit new tires
buy another battery
cut out bellow the rear window and replace

engine block needs a skim, new cam bearings
rods need fitting to pistons,
crank is still at forceracing,
head skim,
assemble
fit to box
order/ build megasquirt
fit in car,
build engine steadys
mount radiator,
plumbing
finish the gear selector and linkages

needs a skim of filler under the boot/ rear quarters
paint prep, ( idealy before mitp)

and the word fook comes to mind

*oh well*
