what about the z-cars kit for £700ish? good price comes with everything.

cheapest big brake I have seen. also have you spoken to Jim and Carl?

I don't see why you don't try and use mgf disks and get calipers to fit, easy to re-drill as quite a few of the metro guys re-drill for mini PCD

Drives
-Ford S-max Mk2 Ecoboost
-Rover 100 VVC #2 - track project

Aren't landrover 4 pots crazy heavy?
my thoughts too. anything from a Land Rover is!

chill guys, i was only following posts and pictures of what have been done, i did not know the landrover 4 pots were cast iron, the pictures i have they look like cast ally, i also didnt know they was 46mm pistons, those calipers are crazy big *happy*

i have just purchased a pair of austin princess discs, straight bolt on to mini hubs 270mm (10.8inch) solid ( i figure they will never do repeated high speed stops)
the discs sit very slightly further away from the drive flange than the mini discs
once these are delivered i will get them mocked up
caliper wise the options are wide open now ,, i want to see how my current 4 pots fit first of all but i dont think i will be able to get them close enough to the disc
i have 12.5 inch worth of room max inside the wheel, so lets call it 12 inch to give 1/4 inch clearance

mgf discs dont fit, rumour has it ( i can only find one suggestion on the net ) rover 100 hub conversion with 100 flanges will allow mgf discs and calipers to fit - now i dont even know if that is possible

the mgf 4 pots are a very nice caliper from the AP racing 7600 range but the mgf ones come with mounting lugs that look way too big to usefull they are on the ' too investigate list'
there also examples on ebay selling for more than the wilwood equivalent is new

I have Wilwoods on the rear of my other project, most Wilwoods don't have dust seals but not sure if that's a problem.

the calipers that i took off didnt have dust seals ( didnt know untill now) ive had no issues on the track or the road, so im happy to use wilwoods with no seal ( as the caliper is slightly smaller they should fit with no mods)

Discs finally turned up,

SpNOam on 16vminiclub has got rover 100 hubs on a mini frame, (as do i sortof) its a lot of work, i had mine redrilled to mini pcd but keepi g the thicker metro studs.. ita affects offset , scrub radius, bump steer, ride height and loads of other things, bit to much hassle just for bigger brakes.

turbo 16v k-series 11.9@118.9 :)

now with this disc the measurement from drive flange to disc centre is slightly larger than the standard mini ( not measured it yet but i will be doing ( bellow) )
what this does is move the disc centre line away from the flange / closer to the hub
the disc just touches on the lower caliper mounts and the steering arm, both by the smallest amount, so no drama

13mm wider, from flange to the back side of the disc

I am using the midilights, they fit well under 13's with 10.25" discs

The Maxi disc allthough a little smaller in diameter to the princess disc, sits further away from the hub, IE its not as tall As the Mini disc.

I use the midlight caliper too as does jimster. I felt that, on my car at least, the powerlight was borderline on weights. Plus the midlight has the dust seals, as mine is all road car, all weather.

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

In fact, the Z Cars big brake kit also uses the midlight calipers

midilites it will be then, im thinking the 38.1mm pistons wont be too big to keep the yellow tag master cylinder?
the pistons in my current 4pots are about 35mm

im also thinking metro flanges, dont these move the disc out slightly aswell as the wheel, i havent got any to measure but iirc its 1/4 inch for the flange, does it move the disc by the same abount?
mini flange

metro / turbo flange

i'm using the 38.1's with a cooper S master, the pedal was a bit low till the pads bedded in but now theyre fine.

Yeh the metro flange moves the disc out atleast 1/4"

I went for the smaller pistons so i could get some feel back in the pedal since the braking effort is significantly lower (not quite half) with the bigger disc and the 1144 pads.
