engine number: 10h74368111, i know that the 10h means 1100, but I had a m8 round the other day and he noticed sumthing very interesting about my block, my oil filter is mounted on the far left of the block where he says the coil normally bolts to the motor, i have two motors like this. They both from SA.

Is the head 12G940 or 12G202 casting? Maybe theres a chance that its a 1071S. Especially if its from SA

EDIT: actually, 1071S use a Cooper S casting so I don't think it would have the filter there

Wouldn't it have to have tappet chest covers? Choice is between a 1098 which uses a small bore block or a 1071S which uses a Cooper S block. Or could it be a completely wierd engine number and not an 1100 at all?

Sounds like a South African 1100 to me.

They were similar to 1275 Marina blocks with a destroked crank.

If thats the case then they are a good find.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

Not particularly the block but a short stroke crank is very desirable to some.

yes, the crank is a nice item, I have one, but I do not see the need for the block, as they only used special pistons, the deck height isnt any shorter.
