This is my other clubby. It's a 1975 998. When it was new, it was citroen yellow (similar to Mr Bean's Mini).



I bought it about 2 1/2 years ago, needing front half floors, a patch in the boot and an engine that didn't have no 4 con rod poking out of the gear box.

John's cousin Martin took care of that for me and it was on the road for december 2006.

I did a few smaller things on it over the year. A set of 12" revo's, a stage 1 kit with a twin box 1.75" maniflow, standard disk breaks and some new shockers.



Then sitting outside took it's tole on the body and bits started to fall of. I didn't bother putting in it in for it's next MOT as it was just too rotten.

It's been parked up ever sinse, with other cars taking priority. I've finally started to repair it today to try and get it through an MOT so that I can run it while I finish my black clubby. Then it will come of the road for some restoration and modification.

Whereabouts was second pic taken, looks familiar!

Royston Road, Cudwoth (Barnsley). Outside my old house. It lives at Kimberworth now...

Looks can be deceiving. It's a rot box. You'll see what I mean when I put more pic's up later on...

I took the bumper and grill of it last June, ready to make a start... today...

As it only has to do another year (I Hope), I'm not going to mess about putting new panels etc on it.

I've started with the drivers wing and valance, as a big lump had fallen of




A while ago, I bought an old wing with enough front panel left to repair it..



So, out came the grinder



A bit of the inner wing and subframe mount had fallen of with the other bits, so I've started making repair sections.



The repair section is a bit rough, but it fits well enough



Then John showed up with the Van, so I had to stop. Hopefully I'll get that bit stuck on during the week. The girlfriend is on nights this week, so she says I'm allowed to work on the car...

The management has been working a late shift, so I've sneaked out to the garage

The subframe mount repairs are welded on:



and the valance section is welded in place:



Just need to weld on the wing corner and then go looking for the rest of the rot...

Maybe you will actually get roughest car at the thong run this year?

No problems getting clubby panels. He's got a cellar full of them! It's just this car is being bodged onto the road for a years service before being completely torn apart.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

The shell is fuller of filler and bodge, so I am just continuing the trend. I just want something to drive over the summer.

Then when my black clubby is on the road, this one can be restored and fitted with an engine more fitting this forum...

I've splashed out a massive 30 quid on a new engine for it.

Yep

It's for way in the future, after I've fully rebuilt the shell. But that's an entirely different project...

I jsut bought it because it was cheep and fairly local...

that clubby looks lovely, its in a better state than mine lol, the corner you are repairing has been fibre glassed on mine (pass side) and the front pannel is an 'over' pannel the foot wells have also been fitted as over pannels

It really isn't as nice as it looks in the pic's.

The front is rotten. The skuttle is full of filler at both sides. The back panel is rotten through below one of the back lights. It has a big dent in the back panel where our las' car landed on it. The floor is like a patch work quilt. It has two rear valances, over sills, filler in all the roof corners and half the blue paint is coming of where it wasn't prepped properly.

But I will never sell it!

The general idea is that the black clubman is just practice (and I'm aiming for a pretty high standard on that) and this one will be like new but well modified when it's done

Thong run 2007. We had a good laugh, from what little I can remember. 200+ miles with girls pants on both ends of my car....

I had a poke at the other side and the inevitable happened.





So I've patched it up.





Then I finished filling the skuttle, put some new mirrors on (little bastards ripped them off where I used to live...) and bolted the front end back together.
