Shropshire.

Hi, painting the car next week, the compressor i have isnt up to the job, i have rented one in the past but cant remember the required / minimum cfm and litres for a compressor..

is it something like 9cfm / 15cfm and 100 litres?

depends on the gun you are using to an extent; mine is a 2hp with a 100lt tank and works fine - i think it has around 9CFM

And whether you are using an air fed mask/hood (as you really should be if spraying 2K).

Mine's 3hp with a 150 litre receiver and 14 cfm - the biggest hp you can buy on 240V without an independant high current supply - and it only just keeps up if I'm spraying continuously.

But, in fairness, it's the air fed mask that's using most of it, not the spraygun.

True, It depends on the guns you are useing. I switched from suction to gravity fed and the air demand dropped right off.

Forget anything under 100ltrs unless it has a vane pump on it which is very unlikely. I cannot recall the exact size of mine But I had to run a seperate power line as the 13 amp ring main could'nt handle the current draw.

My advice is get the biggest you can get away with running on your house mains as it will give you the ability to expand later.
