It will need to be sealed if you're using a blowthrough setup. It will be ok if you use a suck through system as the carb is operating under normal conditions.

I have a Dellorto 45M from a Lotus Esprit fitted in my Mini and can second the opinions given. The carb is a great piece, but jetting it to suit a turbo Mini is an exercise. Modding a Weber to suit blowthru turbo is not so easy, you may get away with modest boost but most likely not.
