You could start here?

http://www.webcon.co.uk/alpha/index.htm

However, read the top paragraph here http://www.webcon.co.uk/alpha/dealers.htm

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

You can't get the software for these ECU's, only the dealers can access them to change things, a ridiculous setup if you ask me and also makes them almost worthless second hand.

Yes, a good system, let down by the fact you can't home tune.

thanks for the help. what systems do you rcomend to do both ignition and fuel. i have omex 100 on my blue car and dont really want to spend the £200 to have it upgraded to a 500 unit would rather leave that on the blue car and have another system on the new project.

I've experience of Emerald and DTA and would use either again.

Car is going well Stu, I'm using the K3 ecu £580 + vat new

http://www.emeraldm3d.com/em_pricing.html

The ecu is the most user friendly I've ever seen. I've looked at a lot over the users on the miglias, DTA, OMEX, MBE & SH, but I prefere Emerald to be honest

I like the DTA

They are all pretty much of a muchness these days.

Changing to a different ECU manufacturer is like breaking in a new woman. You pick the one you like the look of, spend time learning how it works. Some times its difficult to change it unless it does or doesnt do somehing you want or dont want it to do, then you start to look else where. And it usualy costs you a fortune *hehe!*

Good thing with the emerald is you can switch between different maps, I think you get a switch with 3 positions which you can load different maps onto etc....i like that feature, Means you don't have to carry a laptop round with you! changing maps etc....

you can do it carl, I do it on mine, the ECU can hold three different maps, by flicking a switch you can change to another map.

You can do it carl, you wire a switch into the inputs, I never bothered as we don't really need it, but we could do it.

it was red herring mate, clearly a switch and associated wiring will add to many grams

i guessed as much, for road cars it could be handy, turn the boost down and run a leaner more economical map? then when you want a race, yank the boost up and change the map? that would be my only reason? plus maybe a map for nitrous use as well? If i ever go 16v, i will head down that route....
