ive got the chance of buying a rather nice cheap 318 (1995) the only thing wrong apart from some scratches is a topend knocking around 2500revs, this was with the engine quite cold and i havent had chance to warm it up yet |

dont know much (nothing infact) about them but if your sure the noise is from the top of the engine id say it could be tappets or cam if the cam is worn and doesnt have bearing shells it might need a head ?
no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.

dont know alot myself either but the father in law had a similar problem on his 94beemer and it was the hydrolic lifters |

ive been foiled!! in between looking at it yesterday and getting the exact price today my friends mum sold it for £1000-ass

a grand saved then. no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.
