Would some kind soul be kind enough to give me a run down on the different types of turbo and appropriate applications on the A Series?

I thought that it was simple, either a T2 or a T3. But since reading this forum it would be seem that there are variants of each type and im more than a little perplexed!

Any guidance would be much appreciated.

Mike

RIGHT!!!

the thing with the T2/3 turbos is that there are different ones with different AR's. the different AR's equate to different boost characteristics. as far as what AR's mean what spool/max boost you'll have to search for that as i cant remember! haha!

then you move onto the newer more favoured GT series.

Turbo Tel has been using the GT15 for some time now and rates it very highly as a turbo for a low/moderate boost everyday road car.

then you have the highly rated GT1752 (the 52 bit is rater important as it equates to the different compressor tips which like AR's means different boost charateristics) this is used by quite a few people on the site now and is rated very highly. it makes for a very efficient moderate/high boost turbo and makes for a nice fast road turbo as boost comes in quite early.

thats for the most common turbo types and then if you look here:
http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbobygarre...ech_center.html
you will learn how to read compressor maps / turbo tags (1752 blah blah) and then you can start looking at completely new turbo's to see whether they would be good for our engines.

i am by no means a turbo expert there are many more people on this site that are far more knowledgeable than me but that is what i have gathered from the site/research.

(my original post lost was slightly more detailed but i lost motivation when it vanished :( )
