The build that is, the massive pile of parts in my room is getting smaller and this thing has appeared in my garage that seems to be a collection of said parts but now arranged in a very carefull and organised manner:

With that said I vaguely remember detent springs and balls wizzing past my ear on the weekend, and I do have an abnormally large number of cuts and bruises on my hands.

Hopefully the MPi tank will fit itself this weekend and maybe the front subby will be in by Monday!

Yay!

Erm, I need to:

Get an oil feed
fabricate the actuator bracket etc for the mirage kit
An oil return
Mod the intercooler a bit
Mod the plenum (or get a Nic job I don't know yet)
Get the fuel tank in with the lines and inertia switch
Reshim the ball joints and give the front hubs a tidy up
Build up the engine when the bits arrive
Put engine in car
Add water and oil then bring to boil!

So far I have:
Rebulit the front subby and CVs/drive shafts
Built the gearbox (or someone has atleast)
Hmm that's it really, not as much progress as I thought.

This weekend I will crack on with it (despite the weather forcast) and hopefully I will have the tank in and the front end finished off. I am hoping to get it near finished by April.

Well thanks to wind and general dampness I didn't get that much done other than rebuilding the carb and dummying up the clutch and flywheel.

It's all getting put into this:

Basically 1293, Benross head, and MED bottom end plus SCCR gearbox and SC drops. I am using a T2 with a bigger comp wheel and mirage manifolds. I am hoping for 160ish bananas but staying completely stock outside (I can't get the IC low enough behind the grill so I might need to duct air up to it, definitely no holes in the bonnet!). Sadly it's rusted a bit from this pic though:

Yep, sleeper all the way. Mk4 Leyland and proud! Except the reverse rims and 3 point roll bar of course.

Joey if this is your favourite build then you need to get out more! *wink*

The only issue is the braided oil pipe between the block and the filer head. It's for an SPi head that's NLA, I can get a straight joiner that is 1/4" NPT for the filter head I have but I'm not sure about the hose thread, I think it's an AN thread but I don't know about threads. Where is the best place to get earls plumbing bits?

I might get a day off this week so I should get a bit extra done.

He he,

Anyway, not much to show but I have the oil and water feeds done and everything torqued down with gaskets etc. I got the plenum back:

... but the IC isn't read yet. It's a cossie one but getting the end rotated is giving the TIG man a headache apparently. I pick up the flywheel/clutch this week from getting balanced and I am getting the oil return MIGed up:

If all goes well it should be going in on Saturday coming!

I have an K1100 head and a set of throttle bodies tucked away, I just plonked the head on for the photo. I may go 16V turbo one day if my fabrication skills stretch to it.

So over the past few weeks I seem to have entered and won the hotly contested "most damage done due to general ham fistedness" compitition. Whilest putting on the transfer housing I damaged the 1st motion shaft pilot bearing and stripped a few threads etc so that has held me back. With that said the engine is in (knida) and now I just need to plug it in and get in running.

Sadly the actuator bracked hits the base plate of the master cylinder so that needs a re-design but it's all good! Ignore the rust!

P.S. I found this on the camera from my holidays, name this car:
