The engine looks even better against the brown engine bay.

Everybody is correct! AWDmoke, thats the one in the car museum in Whiteman Park. There was a nice collection there plus a rough looking Delorean. Now out to get more work done!

Well not much more to report other than the list of things to do is whittled down and I think all I need is a charged battery (and no doubt the starter solenoid will need a tonk) to turn it over.

Sadly I have surcome to puting a few holes in the bonnet for the IC, but I think I will like them when they're done.

The bonnet almost closes but the IC hose is a little high, I think if I chop out a bit of the bonnet bracing it'll close.

Sadly, rust!! I was thinking of seam welding these joints, I know it rusted as it wasn't sealed from under the wing but as you can see the seam sealler also cracks a bit. Is there anything wrong with welding this up?

Turbominivan (i think ) Has brazed the join between the wing and scuttle on his clubby estate.
Brazing is easier to remove if the wing has to be replaced, weld, not so much.....

Not very exciting for anyone other than me, but I have the oil pressure up and it's cranking over OK. The fuel pump is wizzing away too so my wiring skills aren't too bad. Next step is get a fresh battery in it, flash a base map to the MJ and see what happens. :)

Well it runs! Kind of! There is a small fueling issue, it won't idle without full choke even when warm. I have had the carb off and striped down again (I rebuilt it with a kit a few months ago), and the float level is fine, filter is clear, float needle is clear, infact it all checked out OK so I don't know. It just seems to be not getting enough fuel.

Anyway just need to get some brake lines made up, bleed the brakes and try drive it up and down the driveway (it's on a SORN). There is an exhaust leak somewhere, I need to plumb in my breathers, re-position the washer bottle and fab another braket for the downpipe then it's RR, tax and MOT time! More pics soon.

Good stuff. Have you checked the fuel pressure?

A valid point, no not yet. I take it this can still affect it at idle? I have a pressure tester on order, when that arrives I'll sort that out.

Its certainly worth checking. Although it may just need richening up on the screw.

Eeek eeek, car is up for MOT on Monday! I have very little confidence in it passing but at least I will have a list to go on. It drives OK but takes the odd heed stagger and stalls. Needs an RR session badly.

Check the wheels:

And it's a FAIL! Needs a new healboard (I kinda knew that) plus a patch here and there. Emissions were OK strangely. Lets hope I don't go all James_H and start cutting lots of bits off the car! *wink* Heres to another few weeks under the car...

To this:

I can't say the quality of the welds will set the world on fire but it will do for now. Next step is get the subby in and back on all fours, then a general tidy up for the next try at the MOT. Just in time for winter yay!

So a year on and I have to say the turbo engine has been a fantastic engine! I have only done 1000 miles since the engine went in but I am very happy with the way it behaves. I know the trick GT series Garretts are popular but the T2 is a nice little turbo too.

The MOT is up and to be honest I really need a new set of wings and some A panel/scuttle work so I will be SORNing it over the winter. The engine will come out and get a quick strip down to make sure all is OK. I might even go all out and get a new interior and some new glass etc. Pity I won't get to drive it for a while*frown*

Brace yourself for a bunch of panel/welding questions!
