Hi, just thought i'd post up my projects build progress for you guys to check out.
It started out as an ex autocrosser, which ofcourse wasnt road legal. so we made it road legal.
these were just after i got it back in 2007.

what a mess

new fibreglass front fitted

once it was legal we found that the engine was pretty much crapped and the 4.2 (i think) diff was ridiculously short for road use.
Late 2007, after reading and learning alot on here we decided to build a new engine, and turbocharge it *surprised*.

Crank sensor mounting. SC sensor bracket fouled alternator belt so had to modify it.

Engine in, running it in without turbo to begin with. Goes pretty well for NA 8.2:1 compression.

Home made dash from sheet ally, came out really well.

covered 500 miles so far, and im in the process of wiring Megajolt up. im going to stick the T3 turbo on and run it on low boost, no intercooler for a bit and then wind the boost up with an IC once im happy.

Engine:
1293cc A+ block, Forged Accralite 14cc pistons, standard rods and crank with ARP nuts/studs, assembly balanced, Centre strap, Phase 2 cam, Piper vernier duplex, ultralight flywheel, grey diaphragm, Benross head, SC drop gears, x pin diff, standard gear set, standard T3 turbo, Megajolt V4.

Body:
fibreglass front + boot lid, interior stripped with rollcage welded to body, perspex side windows, no rear valance, lightened doors, fuel/brake lines inside...

ill keep you all posted. im hoping it will be turbofied for mini showdown in july *oh well*

What a transformation!
Some questions if I may, do you have any clearance issues with that trigger wheel on the front of your damper. Does it not foul on the engine mount?
Ans how did you get such a good finish on the dash, looks like satin powder coat to my untrained eye..?

doesnt foul at all hario, a little room to spare. I did think "oh crap!" when i was fitting the engine mount but it slotted on nicely.
as for the dash, i wish i did powder coat it now. its just halfords matt black spray lol (came out satiny) on primer.

i think you can just make out the clearance in this pic

Well, megajolt is now up and running with a basic map for now. The tachometer reads a bit sluggish when connected to the megajolt tach output though?
Lathed up a blank for the distributor too.
currently in the process of wiring up the lambda guage/sensor. does anyone know if i can put the datalogging output from the lambda gauge into the megajolt aux input thing? im guessing not as there is only 1 input on megajolt and 2 outputs on the lambda.(maybe ones an earth)
the crap weather is the only thing thats holding us back! *oh well*

Nice plug. Can you show me a pic of Your lathe? I'm thinking about buying one somewhere in the near future. It pisses me off when my machinist tells me to wait 2-3 weeks untill he is free.

Cheers

well, got the turbo on today, but we have a slight issue with the clearance between the plenum chamber and the scuttle, as pictured below

i noticed that the scuttle has been replaced at some point, maybe its been incorrectly fitted? though it looks in line with everything else.
i think im going to have to show it the angle grinder unless someone can enlighten me.*surprised*

thanks

Could it be 'pusuaded' or is there quite a bit of a clearence issue?

Edit, I mean the scuttle, not the plenum.

well i ran it for a while on just 7psi before getting benross to do my head and that was scary enough! so should be interesting when i double that boost.

Anyhoo, we got round to fitting the intercooler today minus the pipe work and heres the result...

any ideas on how to fit the grill would be greatly appreciated *oh well*
All that needs doing now is the pipework really and then get the fueling/timing sorted then see how many bananas it produces *surprised*

ill be probing the intake air temps just to see how good this cooler setup really is.
