Does anyone have any details on setting the knuckle joints on a remote gearbox?? I have a stiff change*surprised*

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

I'm not sure what you're asking here... If you mean the joint over the diff housing. this only goes one way.

so there's no adjustment ? it just I have a spare engine at the knuckles are at the top of the splines. where's mine aren't I didn't know if you can play with them. I have always had a stiff gear change in this car I have owned it 15 years and just wondered if this could be a cause?

I don't think you're able to mount this wrong, as the cutout in the selector rods are cut very accurately. Anyway, it's dead easy to get that one right.

What you can do if the selector shafts are out, is to "round" the edges where the spring and ball meet the shaft. If you remove the sharp edge here, gearchange will be slicker.

Is everything greased up properly?

mm everything is greased. I have had the remote change off and re-greased everything. I have greased the nipple on top of the diff. I might try the knuckles on the spare engine.

I would do a careful comparison to the other gearbox before swapping bits - although the splined shafts all have a groove for the bolt I seem to remember there is enough clearance in that groove to be one spline out and certainly up or down a bit.

If you had asked a year ago you could have had all these to play with....

EDIT - long gone now I'm afraid *frown*

ah Rod interesting... I will carefully inspect the the spares on the garage floor. I have a 1275 engine that on the floor is very slick mine you have to use some force but its a always been stiff. So I will have a look and see if there is any difference.
The 1275's knuckles are further up the posts and flush the tops where the ones on engine in the car aren't.

I will also check the positions on the splines.

thanks
