Im new to this forum and thouht id just say hi.

My name is James im 25 and im from Bourne in Lincolnshire.

Im an electro-mechanical engineer in the facilties engineering department of Caterpillars R&D division based at Perkins engines in Peterborough

Ive been into minis since i was 9 and im currently on my 14th, ive owned alsorts from £50 scrappers to one of the lst 500's (which i had to sell to fund my house deposit - Boohoo!)

my current mini is a june 94 mayfair 1275 which i bought in june last year, it had only covered 16.5k miles when i bought it and had been in storage for 13 years.

Since buying it ive fitted a stg1 kit, 7.9" 4 pot minisport alloy brake it) grp 6 arches and 6x12 minilites.

i hd it rolling roaded after fitting the stg1 kit and i got a not so impressive 56bhp so i decided to hatch a bit of a plan, lookng at other coversions the mirage turbo conversion looks best option considering i dont want to fork out for a bini sc conversion or start hacking my bulkhead to bits.

Im planning to mke the manifolds myself along with a few other trick bits. Im currently gathering bits, ive managed to get a really good condition T2 of n R5, an oil cooler off an old Jordn f1 car and im waiting on super cool alloy radiator.

If the recession hsnt hit that hard that i dont gt a bonus next month im getting set of 7x10" spitties from minispeed (unless anyones knows somewhere a bit cheaper) which will complete the outside look until i can afford to get it resprayed.

My eventual aim is to make it into a track day warrior with around 110-120 bhp (im already booked in for one track day at cadwell with some lds from work any1 fancy it?)

can i suggest having a look at Carl Austins split rims... search in google for Force Racing (its the foxwebisitedesign one) or alternativly you could search on here for the username fastcarl (his company his wheels)

dont get to carried away on his site though! you will be re-mortgaging your house!!!!

I got them at Bingley hall last month they had all 4 versions with them, 7.5, 7.9 solid, 7.9 vented & 8.4 vented i hd the 7.9vented ones did bit of bartering with them as my mate wanted lod of bits and got the full kit incl disks pads etc for £280

i was badgering them at bingley aswell, i had already ordered online and my colour was out of stock, they have taken 5 weeks to get them ready for anodising so far lol

i had a choice of 4 colours i was willing to have and they had black so got them.

BTW - please shoot me if this a little forwrd cosidering ive only just joined but im trying to organise a group buy on some performance alloy rads over over on tmf if anyone is interested i can extend the offer to here aswell
