If it doesnt like no choke then I guess the mixture is too lean, tell him to richen it up a bit so it'll idle with no choke when its up to temp.

Edit, actually im not sure because of the fuel leaking aswell someone else can help.

there is a load of things to check over first, i would fix the carb sounds like ()presuming no holes in it) the needle that cuts the fuel from going into the carb is stuck open, this could be because of dirt in the float bowel, punctured float, dodgy needle, and maybe more i cant think off

once thats sorted check the dashpot for oil top up with engine oil, doesnt need to be over flowingpressing the float bowel dipstick down you shold feel resistance all the way from top to bottom,

next, what air filter/ exhaust does it have my guess is its had a 'stage' 1 kit fitted but no new needle (my mayfair was like this and gave those symptoms)
iirc the standard needle is AAU.. and for standard 'stage' 1 you need AAA again dont quote me but im sure thats what i needed the other option it to take it for a rolling road tune, more expensive but the engine will be tuned and setup accurately *happy*

Yes i moved to the darkside *happy*

Hello
Just an update just been round to have a look at said mini, looking around the carb and it was a bit damp but nothink major then took a look underneath
There is petrol dripping on the verge of running from the split pin at the bottom of the clutch casing (the drain hole I think) then checked the dip stick and it is Reading nearly to the top of the dip stick
I know this looks bad but how bad
Thanks for your help again

sorry dont think i under stand? Fuel has leaked out the carb into the sump (and filled it)and is now leaking out the clutch housing?

EDIT hang on a minute have u checked the fuel pump? Maybe that pissing into the engine
If fuel is in the oil it needs changing but fix the fuel leak first dont run the engine untill the oil is changed

Hello again
Should it be leaking even when it is not running (not even been started)

From the latest description, I agree 100%

Yes, it will still flow slowly through the split diaphragm with the engine off if (a) the tank level is high enough or (b) a syphon has started from last time it was run.

As stated, do NOT run the engine with that much fuel in the oil.

Best outcome, shot bearings, worst, a large bang......

The actual fix is simple (new pump and change the oil/filter) but not if it gets run like it is now.....

Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ???
