Today I had to do an approx 200 mile round trip for work. Usually I would get one of the company pool cars which are not great but passable Vauxhall Turbo Diesels. However, someone has stacked one of them, so today I got a Nissan Almera 1.5 petrol'courtesy car'.

What a truly dreadful car, gearchange like stirring a bucket of bricks, no power, harsh sounding engine, but worst of all the handling (or lack of it)--at slow speed there was more body roll than a speedboat and yet at high speed, the merest undulation in the motorway had it crashing and banging and giving a harsh ride......

Anyway, rant over now, had to tell someone as most of the people in the office drive shopping trolleys and wouldn't know 'handling' if it jumped out and bit them......

so you wont be getting one?

Worst newish car - it would be hard to choose between the Nissan Primera and Subaru Justy courtesy cars, but the prize for the most awful car I ever had goes to "Das Boot" - a 1990 Toyota carina II. It got the name Das Boot cos you didn't drive it up the road, more like sail it :)

I was skint and it was free so I ran it for a year then adverstised it for sale with 1 month T&T left on it. I was asking £250 for it and just parked it up outside the house with a sign in the window.

I had 11 enquires on the first day it was there (people were almost fighting over it!) and sold it the same day.

Maybe they knew something I didn't...

I bet it is earning some dodgy illegal cabby a fortune even as we speak....

At 128k miles it was just ready for life as a mini cab.

At one point I had a load of Pakistanis turn up in an Audi 80 and ask me if I wanted to swap

Although a duff car there is nothing that is a more welcome sight at 2am on a saturday morning, 10 pints down with kebab in hand than a toyota carina pulling up at the kerb with leopard seat covers and a hand-drawn "taxi" sign.....(well maybe some scantily clad young lady flashing her baps is better, but the taxi is a close second...)

disagree, buy saloon/big hatch car standards the primera aint too bad. Lets look at the same sorta cars, vectra, mondeo, nexia lol, etc etc all have comedy suspension on them. Body roll is common on most cars cause old farts complain if thier ride is too hard. Thats why most prob 70% of cars nowa days, mirrors scrape the ground whilst cornering.
