i know this is a typical charateristic of minis, but im finding when its wet and under load, the enignes miss firing. it normally only happens in 3rd or 4th gear. i can hold it a constant (but low) rpm,
but has anyone got any idea what causes it. ive tried the plastic bags but would really prefer not to have to cram my engine bay with bags.
Cheers

Do you still have clockwork ignition?

My guess is leads anyway, classic symptons. If it was the points, you get a more consistant fault i.e. it stopps and won't start!

lol mike, longy i also got a silicone spray (not like wd40) its like a spray paint but when it sets it a silicon coating, i rate very highly, spray it on before the wires get soaked though

i had this in the spi.

took the cap off, and there was a fair bit of water in there. so i dried it out, silcone sprayed its, then a smudge of silcone sealant around the cap before i replaced it.

silicone spray on the outside of the cap and in the lead ends and was fine for ever.....untill i took it apart muhahahahaha

Use high quality silicone leads and you'll see a huge improvment.

Fit a ignition system with a coil pack such as megajolt as well, and you can take it swimming if you want!
