unfortunatly through experience , that design will not last very long, they are too thin on the outer lip,

do you use the shorter gudgeons then carl?

on the longer ones tbh i doubt you could make the 'head' any thicker (im talking small bore btw)

*edit* just twigged that i have answered my own question, obviously youll have more room in large bore motors for given pin length

leeds/wakefield.

i reduced the length of my pins by 8mm if i remember correctly,so end up with a nice thick outer section, if i were to do tha same again, i'd use some good used pins from the standard metro pistons as they are shorter still due to the standard flat sided design.

I just had Selby make me eight for a set of MEGA pistons. I'm not teaching you to suck eggs Carl, but wouldn't Rob have some experience on this?

I'm pretty sure Carl knows more than me, my buttons are still sat on the shelf waiting for me to build the engine.

Firstly why would he,?. and secondly make sure you only use them on a small over bore because when the thin ends either wear off or break up you'll be able to machine the grooves out of the bore,
if youve never run floating pins before on a mega piston, then i have more experience than you and i'm giving you my advice as a friend not a salesman,

the ends need to be a lot thicker,

and shame on you for using someone else for such a simple machiining job
