First mini turbo to get in the 12's & site perv

today i had the pleasure of a go in a crx turbo, it was running a T4 and had one of those seperate wastegates (is it teal??)

anyway that makes an awesome chirping sound as you gave it some beans, i was just wondering if mine would do the same if it ever sees the road again

Hi

the sound is in fact the air passing over the fins of the inlet side of the turbo when u back off as the air tries to come back on its self as when you back off the air can only get out one way and that's through the air filter. It's not as you can see the waste gate at all.

I think it might be seperate wastegate making the noise, its the familiar sound you hear with the rally cars!!

I've a external wastegate to fit somehow for my project, can't wait!!

The only issue is with fitting an external wastegate to a smaller turbo than a T4 (and some T3's) is that they all have internal wastegates. Currently trying to find out if any exhaust housings are available without the internal wastegates. Alternatively I'll have to plug the wastegate hole in the exhaust housing!

i have a modified wastegate which chatters away and sounds fantastic,i believe it was done by turbo technics?????????lol

I did exactly what MiniWilliams said on my Evo IV

BLocked of the DV and ran without one the noise was awsome
I think its quite safe to do , but I still paniced after a while !!

Yes nothing to worry about you only need a DV when you use a large turbo something like a T4 up wards, b12 glade your other beast is now sounding great*happy*
