I have a phillips HTS3115 A/V system bought new, its about two years old and bought it because of the fab reviews and that there was a hack to make it multi regional

now ive tried the hack:
open tray
type 99990

But this does not work, anyone into A/V that can advise? maybey software update?

I usually buy Philips because they are so easy to change to multi region.. My Phillips is working fine but I think you need to select setup first

Try this site
http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks?dvdplaye...0&Search=Search

And check out other Phillips models as well, the instructions are basically the same but others have more details. e.g.
http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks/philips-hts3450/7052

Mine is a DVP5990 similar, but used different numbers to unlock it.

As Tel says - Philips stuff is the easiest to source hacks for - you just need to try a few different series of buttons to find the one - once you have the 'code' it is pretty easy from there.

OK

What exactly are you doing and how have you tested it?

Heres another version (remember---there should be no dvd in the tray..) and I would power it up fresh prior to doing this..

1. Open tray
2. Press STOP
3. Press 9, 9, 9, 9, 0 on the remote
4. Close tray

Should now be region free.

When I did my old Sony DVD player I had to download some software that emulated the Sony service remote control then find a laptop with an infrared port that was compatable. That was fun *oh well*

Well looks like you have covered the 99990's

Keep plugging.. try the other numbers that come up for Philips stuff in the websites we linked to above, remember like most forums people may be "mistaken" and you also may have a different s/w version that uses a different number/sequence to unlock it. All I can say is that I sucessfully did this on 2 Philips DVD's and a couple of LiteOn's (but it was different numbers) something should work..

Terry

PS when you say nothing what do you mean, no 0 display or you still cannot play another regions DVD??

This seems to pop up a lot in (later?) models near yours
Terry

Remember, if you use the hack, you do it at your own risk, although it worked for me, so here's the hack:
Using your remote control:
-Open the tray
-Press Stop 7344660 (0 being the region or just leave 0 for multizone)
-You should see Region 0 on the left bottom corner of the screen.
