Yes would work well mate after a few runs you'll have another 82 bhp to use lol.

80 Hp is good but at the moment the weight of the system almost takes off the advantage certianly with the twisty tight tracks, but there are some possible increases coming over the next few years. Talks of doubling that power in two years!

edit: just seen carls post, 80HP is possible believe me, but the batteries are far from green they are the most lethal batteries about

of course it is, carrying a load of weight around is going to cause the cars to burn more fuel, and chew up more tyres.

plus, the batteries that most teams are running, are in the fuel cells, hmm batteries and fuel!!

which also means the cars can carry less fuel!??

really, whats the point?

This is FORD country, on a quiet day you can hear Vauxhalls rusting.

Ah, the flames, the explosions, clouds of black smoke. 22 cars starting a race on a dry day and only 8 finishing.

I LOVED IT!!!

That, Group B Rally cars, and the fact I got my first root were the highlights of the 80s

The thing is about KERS is that it's limited to 82bhp this season, but it will be increased in the years to come.

And the cars don't actually weigh any more, the minimum weight allowd is the same. What it means is that they have less ballast to move around, which is a problem for weight balance.

Back in the 90s me and my mates joked that F1 would be more fun if they had nitrous oxide to provide burst energy for over taking, sounds like the kinetic energy recovery system does a similar thing.

I can't get my head round changing the wings to give less down force and bringing back slicks, are they trying to reduce grip or not?

They are trying to reduce aerodynamic grip but give back some with mechanical grip in the hope to promote the overtaking, hoping that the cars will be less sensitive from bad air from the car in front, they will still be sensitve as hell tho

Forget the battery KERS systems, Check out the flybrid systems, flywheels spinning insanely fast storing kinetic energy!

Thats not the reason for them being in vacuum, Its to allow them to do the insane speeds 8-)

That was orgionally what I thought, but it was explained to me by a chap at williams how it serves a double purpose, on the event of it breaking up and smashing the housing the air rushing in to fill the very negative vacuum "should" stop at least some of the smaller bits from flying out, or at least take energy out of them so they cant go into the grandstands!
