you can buy them from the megajolt shop Jon.

gr4h4m, that would only work with a v3 or previous edition MJLJ controller. The V4 uses an RJ11 connector instead of the Serial (RS232) connector.

Maybe, maybe not - as it's designed for connecting to a modem (??? that's what it implies) it's unclear if it's doing a normal serial conversion and you certainly don't know what order the four wires are connected to the RJ11.

My TechEdge wideband stuff is the same issue (uses RJ11s) and the wiring connections are weird - but I don't know if "weird" is standard or if MJ uses a different configuration.

I do remember that somewhere on the autosport web site and/or forum they have posted the required wiring so you can use a spare telephone cable to make your own adaptor to a serial plug.

EDIT - spelling

Could i not just use an rj11 cable and put in the port next to the network port on my laptop??

Thanks

Jon

no!, that port is the modem!

The serial comunications uses the RS232 protocol, it iether needs to be connected to a USB port with the apropriate adapter or the DSUB9 serial port (com1)

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

As I've already said, if your laptop has a real serial port (RS232) you just need an old phone cable and a serial plug to make your own cable.

here is the link to save you searching....
http://www.autosportlabs.net/MJLJ_V4_Opera...de#Serial_Cable

Look at section 2.1 if the link doesn't jump straight there.

If you only have USB, still make the cable, then plug it into a serial/USB convertor.
