I have a standard bonnet and want to make sure it does not fly open on me. I see pins, straps, springs and rubber "T"'s

I fancy the pins

Whats the thoughts, any pics of these installed?? do you need to weld a fillet for them?

I just looked at loads of pics and am now leaning toward a bonnet strap, so where do you secure it on a Mk4 grill? can you screw it to the underside of the slam panel, feed it through the grille and buckle it there??

This one looks sexy but may be too short..

maybe I would need this one?

you say you have a standard bonnet and you say its for peace of mind, so i assume you have hinges and the standard centre catch. if you fitted bonnet pins as in your link, i assume you would fit them at the front edge of the bonnet, as such how would you hinge the bonnet open? in this instance i'd fit either the classic leather strap as above or the spring type pull down version.

if your doing away with the hinges and centre catch then i'd go with the pins you put a link to as the leather straps wont pull down that tight and might allow the bonnet to move about a bit, thus rubbing the paintwork

Since the first post I realised that the pins were really best for all 4 corners and I am keeping the original hinges (quick release) and catches so the strap is just insurance..

The Minispares brown leather one seems nice, but I was concerned that its a bit short to go just to the left of the cenetr of the bonnet and wrap around all the extra trim. Minisport has a longer one but they have silly charges for shipping to USA.

I ordered the Minispares one, I can always e-bay it on if its not OK...just add it to the small pile of odds and sods I need to get up on ebay..
