just wondering do you have to use any special paint?

Suppose the process is easy just bung the holes in the engine up with bits of rag and spray it bieng careful not to leave any bits in the engine. Is it worth undercoating it?

ive always brush painted mine using either engine enamel or hammerite, never used an undercoat, just made sure all loose rust is gone, and that there is no oil or grease.

And on the 7th day........... God created turbochargers!

Hi Mini Stevo yes as nutter driver said you can use enamel or hammerite, this is more forgiving if your block is a little surface rusty.

however you can use Normal spray paint with indercoat, but your block has to be SPOTless for it to stay on.

yep my hammerite is brushed on, looks good and seems to stay there too. have to be careful the first few runs as it goes soft when hot but once its been hot a couple of times it seems to dry it out nice and solid.

engine enamel from halfords works well!

Brush painted hammerite, dries nice and smooth. Easy 2 clean 2:)

Some friends of mine slagg me off everytme I hammerite a engine as they say it makes the engine retain heat

TD ... I have some great mates that come up with these sort of gems "makes the engine retain heat" !!!

Rememeber the other GEM ... a intercooler will make no difference !!
