I am good at a few things but one of them is not threads. A basic question though, is AN and JIC the same? I have a small plumbing issue with the braided oil pipe, the pipe end is either -6 or -4 AN and the filter head is 1/4" NPT. So I need a -6 JIC or AN to NPT adapter don't I?

Thanks for your helps. :)

Thanks Mini13. From that I can measure my thread size and pitch and work out if I have 4 or 6 JIC/AN too. Another thing I can add to my list of skills then!

JIC is UNF, -3 is 3/8, -4 is 7/16

Thanks for pointing that out Tom, it even says that JIC/AN are UNF! I'm having a malteaser moment.

As I understand it, the JIC - whatever relates to the hose and not the fitting thread size. So -3 relates to the hose, -4 relates to the hose etc. However each happens to have a common thread size for the unions which is UNF.
