I'd like to lengthen the steering column and probably add one or more u-joints so that I can move the seats back further on my Moke and get the steering wheel in a better position.

Can anyone offer advice on how to do this?

Graham

I was going to say have a look at a maestro or montego column as a replacement, then I looked at your location.

Forgotten more than most ever know

IIRC a late 80 / early 90´s Mazda 929 had the same splines as Mini / Minor rack. You might find these easier than other British makes. If you solve that problem there is a potentially harder one: how to fit the column securely in position. It does require all kind of bracing and it is somewhat difficult with a Moke. But anything is possible.

Thanks Jukka. At one time I had a supplier's website address that carried splined column ends of the same kind as Mini, but can't seem to find it now...

I'm sure I was told Mk2 escort UJ's are the correct spline.

Thanks very much Dave. The Rally Design site is the one that I had lost. Now I can start designing again. As with many vehicle mods in Australia, I'll have to get it certified by an engineer to make it road legal.
Cheers, Graham
