I am having a few problems with oil over the top of the rocker cover ( just enought to be a pain and requier constant cleaning)
i currently run 2 k and n style breathers one crank case side and the other timing chain side.

I was wondering if it was because of the style of cap i am using or the rocker cover.

do the turbos beathe more than these can take there for meaning i need a breather from the rocker cover ?

if so where is the best place to take this from?

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

the A series like mass breathing so more the better especially on a forced induction one, have a breather fitted onto the rocker cover as well

Is that one of the alloy rocker covers where the bit that the cap fastens to is just pressed into the hole with nothing but a small lip to hold it in place? If so the preasure is probably pushing the oil through the gap.

I guess I'll be buying a new rocker cover if that the case *wink*

Those little silver caps have a hole in the top of them and oil mists out of there.

If you installed another type of cap it would probably eliminate the problem.

I don't know if there's any other caps that will fit that type of r-box. Personally i'd just screw a small self tapper into the hole to block it.

add a breather to the rocker cover and block a hole in the cap...

If the rocker cover is like mine (plus the fancy dan MED bit) it has a flat spot to the back right of the cap. you could drill and tap this for a bit of bent pipe or something and then plumb a breather pipe up to the rest of your breathers.

That was my general plan.

i have the same problem, i have breathers at either side of the rocker, I put the query to TM's who suggested piston rings may have worn.

i dont have any breathers on the cover bar the pin hole in the cap and it is coming out of there i think.

So.

Im going to block that and have a oil breather from the cap i think to a catch can (if i can find it) so i can monitor the oil coming out

i had a look at the rocker cover and it has a flat spot to the back right of the cap as apbellamy said so i think im going to make that in to a breather take off

roll on the weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

update:

I spent some time sorting this over the weekend and this is what i have done.

the rocker cover has a small round patch just behind and to the right of the cap i drilled and taped this to take a banjo fitting. Fitted the banjo and piped it to a t piece on the crank case breather

i now don’t get any oil over the top of the rocker cover it does not foul the bonnet or the rockers inside and it is very easy to fit.

sorry for the fuzzy photos they were taken on a phone

works a treat like that i get very little oil out the cap and can always block the hole in the cap compleatly if need be
