car was running fine, then i replaced the std rockers with a set of 1.5 roller tip minisport assy, set gaps to 18tho as i'm running a 276 cam in this 1293, chuck the cover back on, turn the key and it runs like a bag of shite! checked the timing and its firing WAAAY out wtf!

when at TDC on 1 the dizzy is about 45 degs out, its sitting smack bang between 1 and err 3 or 4, firing order has slipped my mind.

nothing else has been altered or changed, and now i gotta take the dizzy and shaft out to get the timing back to a reasonable setting as i'm using the electronic metro dizzy and theres only a small adj range as the module either hits the oil pipe or the vac adv hits the oil px switch.

Any ideas as to why by changing the rocker assy has put my timing way out?

Not sure it can!

Thou you have risked your head gasket by changing the rockers....

How can the gasket be damaged? Surely a new gaket would have been fitted?

Edit: wasn't thinking about just undo-ing the rear studs... dodgy enough on a 998, let alone a turbo!!!!

y point taken re: the gasket, its an 11 stud head so was taking the risk that it would be ok.

By removing the middle studs to release the rockers you unload the champing from the centre of the Head...

As Dave says its a bad idea on a 998 and so even worse on a turbo one!

You can't have re-set the timing by simply changning the rockers. So either:

1) timing was always wrong
2) your measuring the timing wrong

Not being harsh (although it sounds it) I just can't think of any other possibilities.
