Started work on prepping Sturgeo's Flame to sell it.

It's in reasonably good condition except the front paint work was crazed and a door was badly rotted.

Sturgeo has removed the paint from the front wings and front panel which appear to be realtively new.

I only wanted to take the door off to fit a new skin, but the nuts were buried in goo.

Started to remove the goo to find massive holes.........so the A panel had to come off.......

Bl@@dy Bodging B@st@rds.

Why go to all that trouble to replace the panels over the top of a load of crap.

looks a bit like my clubby did last weekend. I managed to repair it with the A Panel etc still on. Not fun is it!

I think I've found the last load of bodges on my black clubby. Somebody had fitted a boot hinge repair panel, but put it in the wrong place and ended up putting a 1/4 inch of filler over the top. There where bodges like that all over the car!

Minis are being sold like that as, solid, mint condition and fetching stupid money.

Anyone who saays there is no rot in their mini that is worth £2500, is either lying, unaware, or undervaluing their car

Very true, but I'm not prepared to sell it in that condition, particularly as it will be advertsied here first.

It's not going to be perfect when we sell it. It will need sills in a couple of years. Plus the other inner wing will need some work at the same time.

Anyway, I've cut out all the rot and £20 worth of panels will see it sorted.

Problem is the time. I wanted this car off the ramp by the end of the month so that we could start preparing the Miglia for Avon. It's the outlaws golden wedding next weekend so running out of time.

i had the same issue last year mate, i did a flip front for a so called friend but spent so much time on rust repair i could not spent as much time doing a flip front, we fell out as he was slating me for taking to long, bearing in mind i was doing it as a favour that was out of order

I wonder if Paul has got out a baseball bat with his repair yet Neil.

I'm still mentally scared from when you pulled that out and started beating the crap out of it lol

The bit that goes from the panel flange round to corner of the inner wing are about a tenner.

Been there, done that and got the teeshirt.

There are some shockingly bad Minis out there.

I'm actually glade that I brought my clubby and found all the rust / filer / bodges with the angle grinder. I don't want to think what would have happened if a kiddie had brought it and then been involved in an accident.

EDIT: My metal work isn't and will never be the prettiest but it is solid.
