Ive just fitted my new wheels and im going to need to change the arches as mine are now far too wide! *oh well*

Please could someone with standard plastic arches measure the distance between the metal arch lip on the rear quater to one of the screw holes (preferably one of the ones in the middle of the arch).

Im hoping the original arches will cover my holes ive drilled for my grp 5s otherwise im going to need to weld the holes up and respray my quarters...Doh!

Cheers
Matt

Right, starting from the front hole to the back with measurements from the centre of the seam to the centre of the 3.5mm hole my measurements are:

8mm
20mm
26mm
25mm

thats with arches fitted with no strip between the body and arch. Unlike most other arches the profile of plastic arches isn't constant

I'm guessing thats not what you wanted to hear? *oh well*

Hmm no that doesn't sound too good! I know at least one of them will cause a problem. Cheers for measuring for us, might have to try some narrow aftermarket arches.

Will check later...*oh well*

Ahh yeah thought it was. Thanks for the offer but don't think they'll suit my car anymore (used to have the wide version).

Just measured mine and they are all near enough 25mm from the lip. I might be able to sort something out to hide the holes at either end.

Im not worries about the fronts, as im replacing the front end soon! :)

Ah, good news. All the holes can be moved around abit without much hastle. Since I have a removeable front the arches required some modding. You can widen the slot on the inside of the arch so it can move up and down on the seam and you can elongate the screw holes in the arch to gain a couple of mill without it being noticeable.

You going with a composite front?

be careful when welding the rear quarters, me and my old man plugged a few of the rivet holes on my old cooper, and ended up distorting the panel by getting it too hot, it wasnt very noticable, but i noticed it and it did my head in.

Yeah going to go compsite front. Too much going on in the engine bay now to get to things without taking evrything out to get to it! *hehe!*

And there is a little bit of rust that I can't get to without taking the front off! *oh well*

Yeah I had exactly the same thing happen to me last time I welded up the holes...had 16 holes on each arch! Im hoping I can cover them up without the need of welding.

I always wondered how you managed without a removeable front end considering you have so much in your engine bay anyway. It's feckin' packed!

Cheers, yeah there mambas!

See what I mean about them not filling the arches? lol When you see them close up they look smaller than 10's as the arches are soo big!

Oh nice impression BTW! *hehe!*

please please please superglue that rubber fillet down near the front gutter,

i know im being an anal twat, but that bit was the bane of my life the other week when i was fitting the arches to my British open classic, i ended up scrapping about £40 of 'p' section rubber and ended up using 1 continuous piece for the whole of the arch to maintain a perfect radius (just trimming the top of the 'kink' around the gutter so the bottom bit is beneath the arch line)

Looks great though, are they W&P arches?

I know what you mean about the fillet strip. My new arches won't have that though. And they are a PITA to fit!! *wink*

The tyres are 165 70 10s so can't get taller tyres...

The arches are the MS group 5's. 2.5" wide.
