After starting from cold,I get about 40psi constant.Drive a mile down the road, stop for 5 mins, restart and pressure is 55psi (which it is set to).Pressure climbs slowly too.I'm wondering about air in gauge line or faulty gauge.Any ideas anyone?

By the sound of things you're using one of them adjustable PRV's?

Ive heard/read that they aren't that good, and could be sticking? Might be worth trying to get a foot pump on the gauge and check it with the gaue on the pump? Or fit a standard type PRV to illimnate that?

The last time I got erratic oil-pressure, the thrust bearings were shot.

The thrusts are new, replaced when I rebuilt the engine. The other thing which has changed is the turbo,T2 for T3,with associated new feed and drain, maybe the T2 flows more oil?

I would start by pulling out the relieve valve spring and plunger and checking it for scoring that may be causing it to stick.

Tried another gauge and line, started from cold and got full pressure,so probably the original gauge at fault. However I now have other issues, see midget update.
