Evening chaps, could you tell me you opinions on my crank as i think it may be screwed, as it looks like theres been alot of fretting between itself and the flywheel.

Oh sorry about the pictures.

Cheers Oli.

Not being rude but those pictures are crap! It looks like it might be OK to me, but learn how to use your macro function, and get us some decent pictures so we can tell you a proper answer.

Can't really tell from the pics? From what I can see it doesn't look like there is any pitting on the crank?

Have you got an old flywheel to lap it back in? If it comes up ok then you should be fine!

Looks to me like it would lap in again to live another day.

id say borderline, but im a pessimist in this area due to a bad experience, give it a try, nothing to loose but maybe your flywheel's taper

Lightly nib the high spots off with a fine file, then lap the flywheel on.

I seriously doubt it!

You can see in the second of the "better" photos that the location keyplate has been carrying the drive...... not good.

It should lap in OK from what can be seen (lightly file the high bits off first as said above) but to get a really good fit might leave your flywheel a bit further back than is ideal.

hmmm, rightio, i think im going to take a trip to slark and ask them what they think, as obvioulsy your going on what the photos show.

However if i get time in the week then i'll do what you guess have suggested, and try filing and lapping.

My crank is exactly the same my flywheel came loose last year. Do as the others have said and remove the high spots with a file and then lap the flywheel back on.

Does it look to anyone as if the primary gear has been rattling about a bit? *oh well*

i lapped a flywheel back on to my crank wich was much worse than this looks and it stayed on for at least another 1000 miles... i am trying to take it back off today to replace the gearbox..

the same happened with mine, the flywheel was loose and damaged my crank. I took the high spots down with a file and used an old flywheel with some fine cutting compound for the rest. Its worked fine since
