right, i have some pic's from the fast "lets fix it up for the m.o.t" stage , But that never happend as the car was met to be fixed for my girlfrend.

she had an accident with a smaal jap car and sinds prefers larger car's.
So the mini was parked up and still is.

one I get going again all the bad panels wil be replaced, the quick plate welds are not pritty at the mo and wil be replaced by new panels.

as my girl frend will not use the mini ( she will change her mined *happy* ) I have dicided to compleatly strip the mini and rebuild the whole thing, as i go I will attempt te rebuild the engine and box as best I can , one of my mates is good withe trannsmissions, and another company frend/contact has his own engine rebuild shop, and all the tools and machiens to do all kind of mods and work.

Idias for the mini

#Brittish racing green, set of by stainless bumpers and brightwork.

#convert to 10"wheels now on 12" perhaps with the fiesta caliper conversion

#coustum dash ( havent a clue yet, but have worked with glasfibre/ fiberglass before on a dash.) also like magnolia diles and like seeing all temps an pressurs.

#rollcage ( more for my ladyfriend than my self but a good idia i think)

#possibly a 5 speed tranny

#fully rebuilt and toughend up engineand box, looking for about 100 to 150 horse and good pulling power form 1500 to 5000 k aprox and turbo'ed naturaly

# on the comfort side elec windows, central locking, One key for all locks ( getting good at modifiying lock barrels on other rover products) Good stereo (mybe dubble dis kenwood with built in satnav,carphone,dvd,mp3, radio cd and a shed load more. and sone proper light waight sound proofing.

# most important the mini must look standard classic ish, but not bosting its power etc with bulging bonnets, large wheelarches, 15 inch wheels and track day tyres.
I just want it to scare some mate's ( perhaps myself ) and seriously annoy modern GTI's TDI's and other known quick cars *happy*
Just have the "what the foock! how can an old mini do that?" kined of supprise.

I also have the idia in my head that the best anti rust way to go would be to galvanize the shell and other bits, but as we all know the beutifull curves and welded on panels would get seriously damaged by hot dipping the mini shell.

So i reccon i wil cut the rear side panels and roof out and replace them with fiberglass ones after galvanising the front end would be a flip front with working bonnet. if the floor distorts i will not be worry'd as long as the shell remains straight, and the doors still fit.

I am not new to galvanising i did a classic rangerover shell last year, evryone i spoke to siad it would not work, and it would be a waste of money ie the shell would bend beond use

the result is here http://www.mijnalbum.nl/Album=DQMHCY7N

yes the rear floor did worp but it did that while welding, and thats becouse the original floor is nolonger availible so i used a discovery one which is to short, once the sound proofing is in and the carpets you won't even notice, this was a big risk but it was a coutome'r an close friend who risked his dosh on that project I had my reputation and a good friend to lose plus the hassle of sorcing another shell if it was to have gone wrong

As for my buget, there is no buget, i wan't to do this once, so the bits i need will be had when i need them if the cash is there if not the project will be put on hold.

in the end moste of my projects cost more than the car is worth on compleation, but i just like my coustum built car's is suppose.

enyway enjoy i will be taking pic's as i go, and try to keep posting them or put them online somwhere for you all to see.

Cheers, Andrew

Sounds like a good plan, I always like the understated cars myself.

If i have done this correctly you shuld see two foto's of my mini as it is at the moment.

Currently ist standard 998 lowcompression, it has servo assited brakes 8.4 discs up front and HI-LO's all round other than that it is un modifyd

From the front

And the rear end

As you can see it ended up Black rather than racing green , this due to lack of the correct paint code and time the mini was over hauld in under a week!! from roling shell to MOT able mini.

Hi again ths will slowly become my build thread as i progress with my...ehh... her mini.

Yes dispite her crash with the jap small car now its on the road sinds august 09 my girlfriend has been driving it daily.

now after hours on here i have found the current engine to be aan 998 8.3:1 1973 engine and its verry slow and burning plenty of oil also has the 3.4 FD

I have now also stripped the second 998 hc 2.9 FD engine that has unrepaireble scors down the bore of nr 3 /borepiston ( wrist pin cerclip has broken) on both sides!!

bar the block and piston nr 3 the engine was imaculet so i intend to find a seccond A+ block and use the best bits ofF the two engines.

Goodies on the way....

Hiff 44 N/A carb ( wil modify for turbo )
Renault GT 5 T2 turbo watercooled
ford EDIS coil pack and related bits

so still need alot of bits but will continue gathering parts and slowly start work on the block.

I have also just put the mini back on 10"s useing the fiesta setup ( will poste piccys soon) grate conversion and mutch better feel to the brakes despite the servo assistance.

also on the way from "mini-ist" full castor camber kit to get the suspention correct, at moment it tends to under steer and puls to the left constantly the rear has way to much toe in and a serios amount of posetive camber on the left rear.
I shuld sort this lot in the next week.
and have been to get the mini suspention and steering laser alline'd with a tiny 0.5 degrees neg camber front and rear, dont want to waste the new (falkan 07E) tires and it is to be a fast road car afterall.

Cheers, Andrew
