Today I have re-run some of my brake lines and fitted and adjustable bias valve to the estate.

I've come to bleed the brakes and the seemingly common problem of the bleed nipple sheering on my mini sport 4 pots has happen to me... Its sheered flush with the caliper. Grrrr...

Is this something I could repair at home by drilling and re-taping or would you recommend I get a local engineering place to do it??

Alternatively I might throw these in the bin as I've never been happy with them and buy an 'S setup'

Comment and Suggestions welcome....

i would get a local engineering firm to do it unless your totally confident. reason being the nipple is harder than the caliper, so it wont take much fo rthe drill bit to wander to the weaker metal and screw things up.

I had the same problem with mine - got an engineer to sort them out in the end.

Can you not get it out with a small stud extractor mate?

problem with the stud extractors I've had in the past is that if they break it makes it that much harder to sort out

im going to have a go at removing it tomorrow... the last time it was removed was 6 months ago and its been garaged so I think / hope I can pop it out with heat, penetrating oil and a some "creative engineering"

as with rob, i find that always ends in tears when it comes to fine work like bleed nipples :( best to (very) carefully drill it out imho, and dig out the remains.

Trt, if you can, to have the caliper clamped under a pillar drill and go very slowly at first, with a small drill.Sometimes the heat of drilling will loosen them,so once you have a hole, try knocking an old allen key in and turning it before you drill too big and cause a lot of grief.

There is -stainless, but just dont do them up with gorilla strength and put a smear of Copaslip on them first.
