Hi All

I have heard mentioned and read in a few places that apparently the earlier Mk1 turbo distributor is the one to use. I have had a search on here but nothing crops up.

Can anyone expand on whether this is true or not, and what are the differences between it and the Mk2 Dizzy, apart from the obvious differences such as the module being remotely mounted on the Mk1 Dizzy?

I have the choice of both in a box under the bench, but was initially going to use the Mk2 dizzy as the availability of modules and caps is better.

Cheers

Tom

No difference in mech advance at all - despite the 'rumours'.

A flat cap is available for the mk1 i recall, making it better for a front intercooler / rad install?

So it is just rumours then? That is interesting to hear. I suppose its fairly irrelevant anyway seeing as the dizzy will need re-curving to suit the engine. Will probably use the Mk2 then as the modules are easier to get hold of.

Are they really?!
The Mk1 module I have got has got about 6 or 7 pins into it.....
Also my Mk1 dizzy is a Ducellier, have I managed to get a rogue one or are they all Ducellier? It is definately a Mk1 dizzy though as I took the engine and box out of the car myself, it was a B reg Metro Turbo in an attractive shade of mushroom beige that was in the scrappers as someone hadn't paid their car tax........

Yep - I had this issues as I had a box of parts to "select-a-dizzy" from. I had also head that the advence curve was different, but comparing the two after a strip down, i couldnt tell eny difference in profile, even with a micrometer.
Got a spare ignitor or two though now, and I needed it!
The side exit cap decided it for me, and the fact that the Mk 1 dizzy bearings were shagged......
