Appreciate the pistons (and head) will need changing, just wasn't sure if 'the block' would be ok.

Block would be the same, but, fitting an A+ dizzy is a hassle. If going Megajolt or similar, there will be no issues.

Assuming 1275, there is a void in the casting above the centre main bearing on "A" blocks which makes them weaker in that area.

However, when I asked the question, the general view was that it is only a problem on high RPM motors and turbos usually are not built for high RPM.

As well as the dizzy mount being different as Vegard says, you will need a special bracket to fit an alternator as the bosses on the front of the block are further across to take a dynamo.

Thanks Rod for the advice, previous owner had already fitted the special bracket as has an alternator.

but 1000s came with a altenator as standard so chances are you have one allready. Infact didnt all 1275 'non coopers' come with one?

This depend on the block . There are a few blocks around which does not have that hole above the centre main bearing.

That hole most likely will improve horespower though!

Maybe later ones but I have two early "A" 1275 blocks (with the hole above the centre main bearing) with bosses for dynamos :)

All the differences are minor and can be worked around, and as blocks become scarcer, we'll all have to...
