hey chaps ive done a search and came up with nothing so was just wondering if anyone has thought of suppling the turbo with its own oil feed?
this may be a tank in the boot (as not much room left in the engine bay) with an inline oil pump to supply turbo with cleaner, cooler oil?
or is this just a over engineered method?

all opinions welcome.

cheers

Some supercharger setups run their own oiling system.

But when the engine based supply is already available....tried and tested, and ultra reliable.

Why bother ?

i suppose its fail safe against a loss of oil pressure in the engine.

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

IMHO dont bother, but....... if you are a real petrol head you could place a small 5 micron magnetic filter inline on the turbo oil feed line.

the only good thing about it would be if you thrash your car hard. then want to stop and don't have time for a "cool down" you could just stop the engine and leave the oil pump on.

Id say an electric pump failure is also more likely than an engine pump

Ive just installed a shurflow pump into my turbo mini. I looked at having the pump just for the turbo but decided not to.

Just using it to cool down the oil, throw an oil cooler and to cool down for the turbo after the engine is turned off. 12v valve changes the flow of the oil with a flick of a switch.

Why would you feed it with cold oil??
