Hi all,

Ive got a hard pipe from a saab 9000 turbo that we were scrapping at work that is the correct bore (same as the turbo outlet) and was after some advice as to which intercooler would be suitable for fitting in the grille.

The pipe seems near perfect without modifying if I was to fit a front mount intercooler, which is what i would like to do.

Obviously I will cut the end of the pipe as required to the correct length. And I will block off the dump valve port as its not required as the dump valve will be on the plenum.

Also can the boost pressure sensor be used for anything like a gauge etc?

Thanks

James.

It is much easier to get an intercooler and make it fit with pipes than get some pipes and find an intercooler to fit.

The boost pressure sensor is useless as a gauge will connect directly to the intake system without need for a sensor.

I think you may find that is an air temp sensor as well.

Ok, thanks for the help.
I've got a smart car intercooler, but cant really find anywhere to mount it, plus the inlet and outlet pipes seem a little small. It may do air temp aswell, but its definately boost pressure.

Well if you say so, but every map sensor I've ever seen has three connections hence I think its a resistance air temp sensor.

I work at a Saab dealership, and I asked the older technicians who used to work on the 9000s and they said its the boost pressure sensor. I had a look on the Saab that I took it off, and there isn't a MAP sensor or an air flow meter. The one on the boost pipe is the only air sensor.

Landrover TD5 intercooler mate, its mini grille (ish) sized and would fit (kinda) to that pipe of yours like in the pic

Stolen from this forum I think, Jimsters or someones. Its my wallpaper. For daily inspiration!

find an intercooler that you are happy will fit and then look at pipe work will be much easier. the pipe looks very handy and youll probably end up chopping it to use the bends.

post a pic up of the other side of the sensor so we can see what it is may be useful, fanks

no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.

Ok, will try and find another intercooler that is more suitable. Someone PM'd me today about an intercooler for sale from my wanted advert, so lets hope its suitable.

I will post up a pic of the sensor tomorrow, but off the top of my head it looked a little similar to the hot wire type airflow meter sensor?
