I don't intend taking the clutch apart again any time soon so thought I'd replace the primary gear oil seal as the primary gear had to come out to get a new shim.

How far should the face of the seal (clutch side) protrude or recess into the transfer casing?

Thanks
James

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

hi james, make it "nearly"...... flush with the face,

make sure you dont damage the new seal with the primary gear splines by placing sone tape over them.

If you are going to be doing it a few times, the tool is an amazingly easy piece of kit to use and takes all the worry about damaging the seal and correct straight fitting, out of the task. The tool presses it in about 0.5 to 1mm just below the face of the case

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...
