hey guys

my oil drain for my car is requiring some rethinking, i was just wondering what you guys using T2's are using?

my previous attempt went in to the standard oil drain hole, though it seemed to work (except for a few leaks) i wouldnt of thought it was ideal as i had to join 2 90deg silicone bends, and then it was quite squashed up, i was waiting for it to fail

im hoping someone can give me a better idea

cheers

Jim and me both have a 16mm alloy pipe weled into the gearbox casing. A nice solution, but a little 'late in the day' for you!

I'd make a steel drain tube, such that you only need one single piece of flexible hose. Remember, you can make a steel tube with a very small radius if you make the bend from sections of tube cut into 'wedges' then welded together...

could you grind down a flat section on the back of the gearbox drill a hole the same size as the drain hole in the block, then drill and tap bolt holes either side of it, also the the same size and spacing as the ones in the block then make a gasket and mount the original oil drain there?
i reckon if you could grind the area flat then is would work, what do you guys think?

I think you could, but you would need to strip the gearbox todo this or you would get crap in there, so you may as well weld it and do the job right 1st time.

By having the oild drain on the gearbox it is much easier to fit and remove the turbo oil drain

i was thinking about (you may not want to read this) taking off the gearbox, shielding everything with sticky back plastic and cornflake packets, drilling and tapping a hole putting in something like an aeroquip bulkhead connection and running a hose up to the turbo, bolting it back together and hoping no swarf was in my box

hmmm ill have another look at the weekend
if you want a laugh here is the previous attempt: http://www.netsnapshot.com/users/13975/ima...Bs_13975_67.jpg

I got a mate to knock up a 90 degree bend out of 16mm pipe and welded it onto the existing plate, then reused the origional green bit of silicon tube, not really tested yet tho....
