This is a database showing small pics of many, many intercoolers avaialble on modern cars. I think there are around 70 in total.
Sure, it might be missing some, and others like the units fitted to the Rover turbo's (petrol and diesel) are not shown as they all look basically the same, just slightly different end-cap designs!

As you'll guess, these pics have been taken from past Ebay adverts over the last year or so; bear in mind then that there may be errors in there, so i can't guarantee this to be 100% accurate!

All this is intended for is to save you trawling through tons of intercoolers, trying to find one which looks like it 'may' fit...

Also bear in mind intercoolers vary in the efficiency...
Some like the huge SAAB or Frontera units might look the part, but due to having very wide spaced fins, actually have a low thermal efficiency - only their physical size makes them efficient (but maybe only as as efficient as the much smaller pug 405 unit for example).

Sorry Mark, too many to choose from, and of course it all depends on what space you have available...

All i can suggest is that you choose carefully. The best cores are ones like this:

As you can see, there is plenty of 'surface area' from the turbulator fins, and the internal area looks pretty similar.
A pressure drop will be seen across the intercooler as a result of the internal area, but this is better than hotter intake charge.

A design like the discovery 2/300 tdi is not ideal, as there are no internal turbulators at all. Suspect all intercoolers with very thin 'internal' tubes of having the same problem.
Again, physical size (width height and thickness) is used to combat this - you'll often find such intercoolers on vehicles with plenty of space!
The rest is up to you!

I've come across an Audi A4 1,8T intercooler. It looks similar to the A6 listed on that page. Does anyone know if this is a good bet?
