Went to Mech Motor sport in Cheltenham yesterday to set the car up.Fuelling now ok,was far too weak on boost. However could not set up ignition timing.I have an AFRacing mjlj with v3 software from about 2 years ago.The problem is that we could not reset timing other than by changing a site individually and then uploading it.This is very time consuming and damaging if you're getting detonation. So how can I reset timing 'on the fly'to overcome this?

Can't help you but which set of roller were you on? and who was operating the road? only reason I ask is that Dave and myself had a similar problem a couple of years back.

The software is version 3.0 I think, and it was Dave, who IS Mech Motorsport running the RR.He did say he'd seen this before.

my suggestion would be to check and re check your wiring and have your mj bench tested then go from there.

are you flashing it to the unit??

once you have got your map it needs to be red to the mj (flashing) which is on the tool bar of your map page

Hello
Went there myself and paid best part of £300.00 pounds only to be told not to drive it as running realy lean, he said after he had not done many of these set ups and phoned his mate a couple of times for advice, he had changed all the pipework around. Said the fuel pressure was 10 psi at tick over and dropped when on boost which leaned out.
Anyway got it home brought a fuel pressure gauge a was ticking over at 3 psi,
I had 2 great lads come and have a look at it after I had put the pipework back to how it was and we found a earth wire no connected to the meggajolt (only runner on the edos) how did he miss this, all in all he suppsed it be good but not up to speed with turbo minis
Hope u did not loose out like me LOL

why did you not go back and complain, or tell him what the issue was, as you say he should have picked it up. He would not have been able to set the timing and do any mapping because of this. sounds like easy money to me, he will continue to do this until someone complains. My advice to anyone going to a RR is to ask if they can setup MJ's, they should be able to as it is the same as anyother type of re-mapping. If they come across as not being confident uming and are-ing don't let them do it and go someone else.

Hello philc
I was told he was the dogs nades the brother in law allways takes his mk2 escort there
But to be fair I don't think he has a clue about mini turbos, as for complaining I was to pissed off to be honest did not want to kick off, I'll just try to warn people if they ask. Put it this way I would not use him again

I went to Dave RR on the advice of RogerM, late of this site.He certainly understands SU setups and engine mapping, including turbos. He is reluctant to spend his time and your money on troubleshooting wiring/plumbing faults. He is not keen on megajolt (as opposed to Omex or Emerald) because of past reliability issues.
Going back to the problem with my mjlj,I can now change timings, set the L and U buttons to get 'on the fly'changes,BUT at idle, when I dial in big changes to timing,I can only move the actual timing by 5 or 6 degrees. Is this because the mjlj interpolates between adjacent sites or is there something else?
