Hi guys, driving to work this morning my n/a 1275 engine started making a noise like something was blowing (rather then tapping), i can only hear it under load. i thought it was the exhaust manifold to head gasket so ive just replaced it, but doesnt seem to make any difference. the exhaust system seems to be ok, but havent yet had a look under the car for any cracks or holes, there doesnt seem to be any drop in performance. dont suppose anyones got any ideas?
(Hopefully nothing terminal)

Cheers

I cracked my LCB when I didn't have the bracket to the gearbox. Couldn't find the noise, it wasn't the joins or the manifold gasket but then I found the crack.

If it is an exhaust blow, you might be able to hear if it is down near the Y piece or at the gasket. If it is hard to distinguish then it could be a crack half way down like mine.

Get under the car and spay some WD40 on it the blow will become very obvious.

I know Ric, im slowly gathering parts. well ive solved the issue with the noise. head gasket was blowing between 2 and 3 cylinders. changed it lastnight going to run it tonight and see how it goes. the head was fine, i checked it with a straight edge and feeler gauges. the engine didnt get hot enough to do any damage
